Internationality as a trademark
Behind this abbreviation stands the largest transnational association of aquariums friends who interessieren. Anklicken particularly for the diverse group of labyrinth fishes to enlarge It gives us since 1979, now over 30 years. At that time, some leading labyrinth fish aquarium from Switzerland along with German and French friends, the IGL, based in Basel have created. This deliberate international nature of the IGL was far-sighted, and it extends now to many more countries. Now we have members elsewhere in Europe, and even in Asia and America. Responsibility and environmental awareness.
Responsibility and environmental awareness
On something different, the founders have laid farsighted value: that we should take care to preserve the labyrinth fish. If we can buy many of them in the pet shops, so it does not mean that their existence would be secured. Some species, however, we look in vain there. In the IGL, but they exist because we are trying to target their breeding and distribution. Many of their habitats in nature have already been destroyed. There is also a concern of the IGL to stop this exploitation.
Our Media: The Makropode and the Internet
At the same time, the member magazine "The Macropodus was founded, which now appears quarterly and has gained a good reputation among beginners and experts. Each member gets them sent to you automatically. But today, new media have come to the Internet in particular. why can hold them available to the IGL website a wealth of information on how and where to meet up, get rare species and to educate. In particular, the IGL contains forum today for those who will take some time to browse in, a thousand useful tips from experts in the respective genera and species. Many good pictures.
A highlight: the IGL meetings
Especially I would like to emphasize that the IGL organized as one of the few clubs twice a year at different locations each have a conference, meet the maze, many fish friends to interesting talks and to the fish exchange. Always there is a market where you can buy top quality fish from breeders, including species that never show up in pet. Everyone is invited, and looks to where the next meetings take place!
And in between? Working and regional groups!
Hardly a aquaristic association offers so many opportunities to get together with others such as the IGL. Many groups allow you to specialize and to communicate with the respective experts. And organize more than 15 regional groups meet regularly for the friends in a particular region with its own programs, which come in either Sector or socializing too short. Look here for, where you can make your contacts!
Peter Finke Conclusion
I think it is worthwhile to explore the IGL! Incidentally, all working to incorporate a function here, voluntary. Our pay is "only" in the joy that makes it, to commit to the goals of the IGL. In that sense, I hope I have conveyed something of it!
